Our kids just love little two-year-old Ashlei. We had her family over last night and they had the greatest time helping her on the slide, giving her toys, making her laugh.

Cade, in particular, has always been fascinated with Ashlei’s fingers. A while ago, he told Ashlei’s mom, “When I was born, my fingers looked just like Ashlei’s, but look!” He held up his handful of long beefy fingers. Ashlei’s mom and I had a good laugh about this.

Then last night, Cade again took her little hand in his, and said to her mom, “Oh, look! See? They ARE growing!” I think he wants to assure Ashlei’s mom that she’s going to be OK.

There's a lot in life that's not OK, but there is hope. Hope of long fingers and long (eternal) life. Hope is long-ing with confidence.
