Mr. Cook and the Safe Light Sabers

Here is Cade with his teacher, Mr. Cook, during this morning's 6th annual 'Teacher's Hot Brunch'.  Mr. Cook is a retired teacher who spends his Tuesday mornings with the 4&5-year-olds at our church while their moms attend Bible study.  Mr. Cook read the following note aloud during the brunch:

"Cade, During this past year you showed the ability to have singleness of mind and persistence as each week you found something to be your light saber.  It was a 'safe' light saber, you said, because we wouldn't allow violence, either real or pretend, in class.  Tuesday mornings were never boring, especially when you were there."

This note will be added to Cade's "Teacher Book", and tucked away until graduation day.  Don't you think he'll smile when he sees this picture of himself with Mr. Cook?

Can you imagine the collective impact of all the 'Mr. Cooks' in the world upon the lives of our precious children?

Man! I wish I had a Mr. Cook!  (And I wish I could italicise on comments.)

What a blessing, to have had that role model for your son and all his contemporaries. I like the idea of light sabers, and I'm going to file that somewhere in my noggin, because that's exactly what God gives us, only we don't realize it in those terms.

(Those glasses....where might one attain a pair, if one was so inclined?)

Farmer's Wife, I have often felt gyped with no italics in comment boxes!!  Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels limited in expressing myself!

Cade came home from a party at David's house with those glasses... Guess it's all in who you know. :)

How great, Shannon.  You moms teach me something all the time.  I should go back in time and be a better mom with all I have learned later in life!

Cheryl:  NO!  We need you right in the stage of life that you are in!  All of us 'moms' have learned far more from you than you ever could from us.  Besides, you did well as a mom.  Just ask your kids! :)
